Sponge Filter
making a sponge filter out of the undergravel filter?
I bought a Top Fin 1 gallon Aquarium kit, and I’m planning to make the gravel filter a sponge filter, too. I’ll just poke holes into the plastic tube that the air stone and air tube goes into, and then put a sponge around the holes of the plastic tube.
I was wondering if it would work because i looked at other homemade sponge filters and thought of this concept. Would a sponge filter benefit the tank? or is the gravel filter enough?
A one gallon tank won’t hold a cycle, so it needs 100% water changes, making the filter useless. You could keep it in there if you wanted to, but it would just take up room and get in the way when you do your 100% water changes.
